As the energy sector goes digital, physical brand spaces still play a vital role in trust and consistency. Ahead of CHARGE Europe 2025, we spoke with Erik from Modulex on their LEGO heritage, sustainable brand implementation, and why branded environments matter more than ever.
Can you tell us a little more about Modulex
Founded by the LEGO Group, Modulex has been in the visual communication industry since 1963. Our multinational group, with multiple factories globally and a presence in over 300 cities across 45 countries, gives us infinite reach and the ability to implement brands on a global scale. Our roots in sustainability, design, and quality continue to shape how we deliver branded environments.
As a speaker at CHARGE Europe 2025, what drew you to participate in this year’s event, and what conversations are you most looking forward to contributing to?
We participated in 2024 and found the event incredibly insightful—especially in how the energy industry addresses branding and shared global challenges. Both the presentations and informal conversations were highly valuable and made it clear that we wanted to be part of this platform again. We see CHARGE as a unique opportunity to share how we help energy companies manage and reduce the carbon impact of their branding while strengthening brand presence through sustainable, strategic implementation.
Modulex works at the intersection of physical environments and brand experience. How do you see branded spaces playing a role in building trust and consistency within the energy sector?
In an increasingly digital world, physical brand assets are often overlooked or neglected, weakening a brand’s impact at the local level. Yet for energy companies, physical presence and branded spaces carry significant strategic value. Branded environments play a key role in reinforcing identity—internally and externally—across a wide range of touchpoints. From power plants and field sites to corporate offices, retail locations, and EV charging stations, a consistent physical presence helps anchor internal culture and build consumer trust at all levels of the brand experience. When thoughtfully designed, these spaces ensure the brand message is clear, cohesive, and experienced at every level.
CHARGE is all about the future of energy branding. From your perspective, what does the next generation of brand experience look like for energy companies, especially as customer touchpoints evolve?
We believe the future of brand experience in energy lies in making sustainability a core element—not just in messaging, but in execution. As customer touchpoints become more interactive and technologically advanced, energy brands have the opportunity to lead by example. By combining immersive design with responsible, low-impact solutions, brand experiences can be elevated to new levels while contributing positively to the world around them and telling a story on their own.
With CHARGE 2025’s theme focused on ‘Staying Consistent in Uncertain Times,’ how does Modulex help energy brands maintain clarity and cohesion across their spaces and platforms?
The theme resonates strongly with what we do, as delivering consistency is at the core of our work. We help energy brands translate their visual identity, values, and strategy into consistent physical expressions across all sites—globally and at scale. Whether it’s a power plant, a retail space, or an EV charging station, we ensure their brand is clearly and cohesively represented. Our role is to connect the digital and physical seamlessly, so that no matter the location or context, the brand message remains unified, confident, and aligned.
